The beauty of buying an Arbor home is making important design decisions yourself. To keep decisions from becoming overwhelming, an Arbor design consultant will walk you through the selection process and assist you in making quality choices for your home.

Most homeowners require two 4-hour sessions to make selections. Because you will be making many important decisions that will impact your new home and budget, we suggest that you dress comfortably and make arrangements for childcare so you can avoid distraction. It’s very helpful to come to the appointments with a file of ideas you’ve gathered and a list of questions for our design consultant to answer. For example this may include:

• Magazine clips and photos - showing ideas you like
• Furniture placement – consider what you own and what you may purchase
• Priority list – consider what is important to include in your home including colors, materials and finishes
  

• Know your general budget

During your appointments, be prepared to make decisions about the following:

• Paint colors for the interior and exterior of your home
• Countertop materials for kitchen, bathrooms, and laundry room
• Kitchen appliances: white, black, or stainless finishes; gas or electric
• Cabinet selection for your kitchen, bathrooms, and laundry room
• Stair railing details and finishes
• Flooring selections: colors and finishes for carpet, hardwood, laminate, and tile
• Plumbing fixtures for kitchen, bathrooms, and laundry room
• Fireplace mantels, doors, and trim selections
• Media room and/or pre-wiring for desired electronics
• Landscaping and outdoor living requirements

Before your design appointment, we encourage you to review the list above, attend an open house, and visit the model home in your neighborhood (pay special attention to product selections and finishes). Your design studio appointments are a critical part of the building process for your new home—we want this to run as smoothly for you as possible. To make certain you get all of the finishes and products you choose and to keep everything on schedule (including the move into your new home) it is important that you come prepared to make selections. A deposit will be required when you finalize your selections.
